ICICLE NEWS World War 3
by Paul Sullivan; Editor
During a special United Nations meeting war broke out after an alarm alerted us to a major international incident. The Military Generals from Canada, Russia, Egypt, France, Brazil, and Australia, all decided that the actions of the offending country could not be tolerated, but since they didn't know who fired the first shot they all blamed each other. Hopefully we can work out these problems but it doesn't look good. Some governments have already made new allies and dissolved the UN. The whole world is at war. In this reporter's eyes it looks like Canada who was innocent of any wrong doing, is going to win the war.

Casanova Frankenstein Captured
by Brendan Shanley and Zach Knoch, Journalism MB
It all began when Dr Frankenstein was on trial for being a dork with messy hair. His lawyer paid the judge off. Then the Disco Boyz busted in and shot up the place causing a "mass panic" which allowed Casanova to escape. Following this, Cassonova Frankenstein strapped captain Amazing to the Death Chair. In an attempt to rescue him, Blue Rasha accidentally caused the machine to turn on and slowly fried Captain Amazing. In search of more super heroes, the camp called upon the Scouts and staff for their super powers. Following a gathering, the Scouts were taken to the doomsday device for their first clue. From there on, the Scouts scoured the camp for more clues and the villain's. After many, many, many, hours of long tiring and strenuous searching, the patrols found their villain and got a combination to a lock. They were taken to the doomsday device where the patrol leaders had to figure out which lock was theirs. They opened the locks just in time to save the camp from mass destruction. They were successful in doing this and the camp was saved.

Midget Mayhem
by Adam Loechl Communications MB
LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!! The name of the event was Wild Things/Ready to Rumble, and the game was Midget Mayhem. The object of the game was to grab the ball while on your knees, and run it to the opposite side. You could push, tackle or do anything else to get the ball to the other end. Then they changed the game so that you could stand while playing, and it got a little confusing but it was a lot better and more fun. Then we played one more game of midget rugby and it was a very good game. At the end the even team beat the odd team by only one game. I think that it was the best game so far.

ILF- Icicle Liberation Force
by Tim Wagner Communications MB
The Icicle Liberation Force (Patrol 2) is also known as the ILF. The members of the ILF Patrol are Ryan Conorhum, Jacob Fisher, Anthony Hodges, Zach Knoch, Matt Mitchell, Brad Siegfred, Bill Stanish, and Tim Wagner. The patrol leader is Zach Knoch, and the assistant is Matt Mitchell. The ILF and the rest of the even numbered patrols did very well at the midget rugby, and also placed 2nd in the pod race during Phantom Menace. The secret to our success is that we work well as a team.

Frozen Pat Huslig Fan Club
by Steve Wegner and Mike Harvey Communications MB
The leader of the Frozen Pat Huslig Fan Club (Patrol 5) (FPHFC) is Tom Tancridi of Troop 140 in Villa Park. The other members of the patrol are Bryan Peterus of Troop 20 in Bloomingdale, Mike Harvey of Troop 100 in Naperville, Steve Wegner of Troop 45 in Wheaton, Jim Hudgins Troop 44 in Glendale Heights, Dan Shaw Troop 5 in Sominalk, Mark Lynch Troop 10 St Charles, and Mike Dworianyn Troop 457 Bloomindale. Tom usually pulls the toboggan. Bryan rides the sled in the race. We have done well in the games and we won the pod race. We use a lot of teamwork to find out where we have to go and how to get there. So all together we are having fun and doing well at the same time.

Ice Breakers
by Joe Young and Tom Lynch, Communications MB
The Icebreakers (Patrol 6) are a group of eight Scouts. Put together by pure chance they have learned to work together quite well. Though they haven't won any games, they keep trying. Josh Skorich was elected patrol leader and Brian Wussow is now currently his assistant. The other members in the group include Joe Young, Tom Lynch, Nick Rife, Richard Dvorianyn, Jim Hodgins, and Mike Harvey. In last nights program event the Icebreakers didn't win and the game itself took its toll on them. So in the future programs they are going to fight it out to the end.

If you would like an article about your patrol in the Icicle Reporter please submit it to Sully or Chris.

Field Trip

On Thursday, the Personal management merit badge group is planning to take a field trip to a local bank to fulfill the fifth requirement for the badge. On the trip the Scouts will learn about some of the banks basic services. These include ATMs, loans, checking and savings accounts. The group will also discuss the minimum requirements for opening an account or taking out a loan. Last, they will distinguish the differences between a checking and savings account.

Tips from the Commodore
Rule #1 Dares are neither offered nor taken in the Antarctic. The necessary risks are bad enough!
Rule # 29 The use of Chap Stick will prevent much painful chapping and sun burning of the lips.
Rule #25 Heavy and Bulky polar clothing makes you clumsy and prone to accidents from lack of normal agility. Plan to have an accident. (An Australian broke rule 25 and was run over and killed by his own tractor. One American violating rule 25 was killed aboard ship.)
