parkrun #57 – Blackpool parkrun
Time: 22:53
Tourism event #25
It was my Auntie Carole’s birthday on Friday so I thought it would be nice to do one of the three Fylde parkruns and call in on her for a cuppa and a chat on the way home.
I’d originally planned to do Fleetwood Promenade parkrun because I’ve not done a pure ‘out and back’ course before and was interested to see if I could get a fast time. Unfortunately the weather forecast was for gale force winds so Friday evening I opted for Blackpool parkrun instead. When I arrived I found out that Fleetwood Promenade and Lytham Hall had both been cancelled so it seems I made the right choice!
I bumped into Pete and Deb from the UK parkrun tourists Facebook group. These are the guys who produce the metal Running Challenges badges. Pete very kindly gave me one of his cow badges (the cow is the symbol adopted by serious parkrun tourists).
Well done to all of the runners and volunteers who battled against the strong wind and survived! Thankfully it was dry (not raining) and sunny, which helped.

The Cowell Club – for those who’ve run 100 different parkrun courses. Named after Chris Cowell, the first person to do it.

A Cow – 50 different parkrun courses (half a Cowell. Geddit?)
