Today was the Manchester Universities 2k & 5k event organised to help raise the profile of the Great Manchester Run in May and to encourage people to start training.
It took place in Platt Fields Park on a flat course of two laps. I was overtaken on the second lap by my Library colleague Ciaran. I was determined not to let him get too far ahead of me so I picked up my pace to keep up with him. I overtook him on the final stretch and crossed the line with a 5k PB of 20:59!
I’ve been aiming for a sub 21:00 5k since I got my current parkrun PB of 21:19 in June 2018 but haven’t managed to get anywhere near it, so was chuffed to bits with today’s time. All I need to do now is to replicate it at a parkrun and get it officially timed!
Day 58/365 running 5k-a-day in 2019 for @ARUKnews – Manchester Universities 5k with a new PB 20:59!!!
