parkrun #63 – Princes parkrun #30 – 8th birthday

Today was Princes parkrun’s 8th birthday and to celebrate they hosted an Ultimate Hat Day. Other than flat caps (boring),and a Russian hat (too hot for 5k) the only other hat option was a Santa hat… So I decided to wear my With Meow neck tube on my head instead!
Because of the work still taking place round the lake we ran the alternative course which starts and finishes in the same place (the regular finish line) and cover three laps. It took us through a set of sandstone gates on the near side of the lake. The surprising thing is that I’d never seen these gates before in my life because when we run the regular course we only pass them once and they’re behind us to the left.
I was delighted to get a time of 21:35, only 18 seconds off my PB. I also got my best ever placing at Princes by finishing in 28th place.
I think for future parkruns at Princes I’m going to log the run on my phone since the Strava on my Apple Watch was short of 0.6 km and was all over the place.
