This morning I went to The Wammy parkrun in Newcastle-under-Lyme to join Mel Young for her Cowell Run – that’s her 100th different event. Mel is one of the admins on the UK parkrun tourists Facebook group.
The Wammy is an out-and-back along a disused railway line. Unlike Morecambe Prom the weekend before this course has an incline so I was pleased to get close to my PB from last week.
Afterwards I joined everyone in the cafe where I met up with parkrun royalty Paul Freyne. Paul was the first person to run 250 different events worldwide, and has the unofficial Freyne Club named after him. He’s currently on 527 runs at 483 events!
I also got a selfie with Vasen Moodley, the guy who became famous a couple of months ago when he turned up to the wrong parkrun by mistake and didn’t realise until after the run!
