Notes
I hadn’t run since 28th September. I’ve got a sore knee and have been resting it. I decided to test it out to see how it’s healing. Ask me tomorrow how it is!
You’ll notice if you look at the GPS trace I missed out some roads. Recently I’ve been marking the roads on a map printout as I’ve run them but I forgot my pen tonight and got a little confused. By the time I’d got back to the car and had noticed the mistake it had started raining so I decided to leave them for another time.
There’s a square building on West Derby Road that is, or used to be, a church. If it’s still active then I hope it’s nicer inside than it is on the outside. UPDATE I’ve just looked it up – it’s called New Road Church, and yes it’s still active!
West Derby Road is an odd road. It starts at the roundabout at the end of Muirhead Avenue and heads towards the city centre. When it gets to the junction with Lower Breck Road it turns into Rocky Lane. At the junction with Belmont Road Rocky Lane turns back into West Derby Road…!
I’ve very rarely driven along West Derby Road and hadn’t appreciated the difference in height between the two carriageways running alongside Belmont Drive.
I took a photo of The Musical Box, the famous (in Liverpool) record store that Billy Butler used to mention on a regular basis on his radio show.
Quite a few houses around here had ornate features on the outside. The house at the end of one row of terraced houses was noticeable as the ‘front’ of the house is on the side.
Two semi-detached houses stood out because they didn’t have pitched roofs, and the top of the wall was turreted like a castle.
I’d never noticed The Brook House before. It’s a cottage that was built in 1615 (if I’m reading the date above the door correctly). The brook was nowhere to be seen, or so I thought. When I ran to the end of the road opposite I found it!
Completed a set of alphabetically arranged roads containing the word ‘burn – Auburn Road, Bankburn, Craigburn, Deansburn, Eskburn, Fairburn, Gorseburn, and Heyburn.
