Notes

This run was originally called ‘The last of the roads off Sheil Road’ until I came across Every Street. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the sign so I can now say I’ve run down Every Street in Liverpool. I could even say Every Street in Merseyside to make it sound even more impressive!

There’s a house on Molyneux Street at the corner of Romer Road that backs onto an electricity sub station. To compensate the home owner for taking up most of the back yard the house has a door on the first floor and a balcony on top of the sub station!

Brick-built All Saints Church is ugly enough itself but the main building is now ‘complimented’ by an extension built from breeze blocks.

There’s a house on Marlsford Street with plants and ornaments outside, and pictures in all of the windows. One side is Elvis Presley, and the other is Jesus and Mary. Marlsford Street was one of a group of roads all starting with the letter M – streets (Milverton, Marlsford, Morden, Millvale, and Mirfield) and roads (Malvern, Manton, Maxton, Mallow, and Malden).

I met Edward VII.

Berwick Street is next to Tweed Close.

There’s a shop on Molyneux Road that has spelt the name wrong – Molynuex Supper Bar. It was closed. This was compensated for by the name of the off licence – Molynews & Wine!

Back on 4th August I came across a tiled sign on Prescot Road advertising “Prebbles the Chemists from Kensington”. Today I discovered where Prebbles used to be. The building is now a guesthouse but the tiled signs have been preserved. Opposite Prebbles on the other side of Coleridge Street is The Kensington pub, with traditional tiles on the outside.

The Picture Drome on Kensington is now a pub but was originally The Picturedrome cinema.

I just had to take a photo of a house that’s gone with the exposed brickwork look in the front room. It’s… er… different.

There were nine signs on one alley gate in nine different languages. Who can work out what they all are?

PS I’ve reached 25% of Liverpool!!!!
