Notes

So this morning was a bit of disaster. It was supposed to be all of the roads off St Annes Street. I was 50 minutes into my run when it I got hit by a rain storm. I went to check my map and realised I’d lost my pen. I went to check how far I’d run and realised I’d forgotten to start my Garmin. So I ran back to the car and drove home. I’ll do this run again tomorrow. The first part should be faster because I won’t need to stop to check the map or take photos!

On the way home I stopped to run Cinema Drive. This is a relatively new development off Picton Road which I’d not got round to ticking off.

I’ve said it before but I love it when street names tap into the history of the site.

This area was once the home to the Magnet Cinema. Opened on 11th December 1914, The Magnet had stadium-style seating with a raised stepped section at the back instead of a balcony. It closed on 23rd May 1959 and has since been a wholesale warehouse, a squash club, and Legends nightclub (remember that?).

Now only the outer wall remains as part of Chestnut Roofing Supplies.

Fun fact: Cinema Drive is unique as it’s the only road in the UK with this name.
