Notes

I parked on Dalcross Way off Stonebridge Lane. It’s on Apple Maps, but not Google Maps or OSM. Across the other side of Stonebridge Lane Google Maps still shows Hambleton Close, one of the roads in the Gilmoss housing estate that was demolished quite a number of years ago to make way for a new housing development that never happened.

I’ve now completed the section of East Lancashire Road – shortened to the East Lancs Road – that runs through Liverpool. It doesn’t show as a road to run on CityStrides because it’s a trunk road, but I ran it anyway.

The Showcase is a cinema on the East Lancs Road. It calls itself ‘Cinema De Lux’ and says that ‘luxury comes as standard’. In the same area there’s a Travelodge and a McDonalds, so you can have a slap up meal under the golden arches, watch a blockbuster movie in luxurious surroundings, then retire to the hotel!

There is an actual road in Liverpool called Electric Avenue. I wonder if the road planner was a fan of the Eddy Grant 1983 hit… The song was named after Electric Avenue in the London borough of Brixton, the first street market in the UK to be lit by electricity.

There’s another stink pipe on Stonebridge Lane.
