#everysinglestreet [05/02/21] From Russia 🇷🇺 with love ❤️

My first run out for nine days. I don’t know if it’s the crap weather, lockdown, or just the winter blues but I’ve just been feeling a bit meh of late. The times when I’d said to myself I was going to go out for a run I ended up talking myself out of it. So it was good to take advantage of the lighter late afternoon at the end of work on Friday and get a short run in.

Lister Drive Library is a Carnegie Library, one of 1,200 libraries built across the English-speaking world and funded by American industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie who donated $40 million (a huge amount at the time) to the cause. This library was opened in 1905 and was granted Grade II listed status in 1985. It closed in 2006 due to safety concerns, but in 2014 successfully won a £3.9 million grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and was redeveloped as the new home for Lister Steps childcare and family support services.

I would love to know why there are roads named Russian Drive, Russian Avenue, Moscow Drive and Kremlin Drive. One of these (I can’t remember which) is (was?) famous for having a house that was totally covered in Christmas lights and decorations each year.

At the end of Kremlin Drive there’s a Queen Victoria postbox – always exciting to see!
