#everysinglestreet [06/03/21] Norris Green: Part 4 – Parsley, sage, coriander and peppermint

First things first… 50 PERCENT!!! That’s right, I’ve run half of the streets in the City of Liverpool, with only 2,821 left to go.

This morning was my fourth visit to Norris Green. This section has been renamed Norris Green Village and is an area of new houses that replaced older, run-down properties. This area is really nice. Lots of smart houses of different sizes, shapes and colours. Lots of trees and greenery. And the bonus is the street names, many of which are named after herbs and spices! 

I’d previously spent some time updating the new street names and road layout on OpenStreetMap but still missed a few things. Nettlestead Road and Kingsdown Road no longer exist and are now Tamarind Drive, Fennel Close was too long, and Tabil Close was missing entirely! I’ve corrected them on OSM and they’ll update on CityStrides next time it syncs the Liverpool map.

It was great that there was a Parsley Way and a Sage Drive. I’m just disappointed there wasn’t a Rosemary Road and a Thyme Close! 

Buckwheat Drive is memorable with its houses of different shades of white and gray, and the absence of a typical pavement (sidewalk). 

On the footpath between Deanscales Road and Verbena Drive there’s an old street sign for a road that no longer exists – Bellgreen Road is now Verbena Drive with a slightly different layout. 

Smack bang in the middle of these new houses is the original electricity substation looking somewhat out of place!
