- volunteering occasion #74
Since I’m due to run the Great North Run next weekend and my dodgy knee has been giving me a bit of bother of late I’ve been resting it this past week.
So this morning I volunteered at Princes parkrun for only the third time, and the first time since May 2018.
Although this was my 74th volunteering occasion, the majority of these have been at junior parkruns so it was a strange feeling turning up to Princes Park on a Saturday morning and not running!
This morning I was barcode scanning, one of the volunteer roles I really like because you get to see the name of each participant on their barcode and can congratulate them by name.
It was good to see Jo Gibson and Ema Quinn running for the first time after coming back from injury, and great to see Dave Dando back on his feet after his operation.
It was great to meet Tony Woods for the first time in real life (as opposed to online). Tony is also running every single street in Liverpool and is on 99% with only a handful of streets to go. He said we was inspired to finish it after seeing me in the Liverpool Echo! He’s invited me to run his last streets with him.
