- parkrunday 13th November 2021
- parkrun #130 – Greenfield Valley
- Different event #77
- Time: 28:10
Greenfield Valley is in Holywell, North Wales and until this morning was my NENDY (Nearest Event Not Done Yet). It’s a new event that held their first run on the weekend before the first lockdown in March 2020. When parkrun returned to Wales earlier this year they were delayed in coming back as they had to re-form the core team and modify the route to make it Covid-compliant.
This is a really nice run along the old disused railway line, now converted into Greenfield Valley Heritage Park. It’s an out and back route, with two small side diversions on the way back. There’s a noticeable incline on the way back up to the finish too!
Greenfield Valley parkrun was set up by Danny Thomas and this morning was extra special for him as his young son Albie was running it for the first time. Albie had a foot amputated when he was younger and now runs on a blade. As well as starting this parkrun Danny also formed Holywell Blade Runners, a local, inclusive running club set up so that Albie could run with others.
