11th December 2017 is the day I registered for parkrun.
I’d been told about parkrun by my friend Ultan Mulhearn who I know from the local music scene (he’s in a duo called The Folk Doctors – check them out!). He’d seen my runs on Strava and had suggested I might like to have a go at parkrun.
I ran my first parkrun at Princes Park on Saturday 30th December 2017. I thought if I could run in the dead of winter I could run any time of year! I enjoyed it so much I went back for the New Year’s Day extra parkrun (I didn’t know about New Year’s Day doubles back then!) on 1st January 2018 and I’ve been taking part ever since.
If I’d known back then how addicted I was going to become I’d have started chronicling my parkrun journey from Day One. As it is I started this website at the end of December 2018, just before my 50th parkrun on 1st January 2019. My aim to keep it up to date with reports on my parkruns on a weekly basis as well as going back and filling in the blanks when I get the chance.
