I have to admit I was a little nervous not knowing quite what to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I arrived nice and early and got chatting to a woman at the start. I told her it was my first parkrun and she told me not to worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was on my second of the two large laps when I got a stitch in my side and started to slow down. If I&#8217;d been out running by myself I would have stopped to catch my breath, but the woman who I&#8217;d been speaking to came up alongside me and encouraged me to keep going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I crossed the line in 25:30 it was my fastest every 5k and the first time I&#8217;d ever run that distance without slowing down or stopping. That&#8217;s the power of parkrun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>p.s. I cringe looking back at the tweets where I call it ParkRun.
