It was great to be able to run after work and arrive back home while there was still daylight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hidden behind a new building with a tunnel through the middle is Archbrook Mews, a series of apartments created from an old mews.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a statue of St Cecilia above the entrance to her church. The inscription below says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SANCTA CAECILIA
PATRONA MUSICAE SACRAE

Just along the road from St Cecilia\u2019s, St John the Baptist seems to have fallen on hard times. His vicarage is for sale, and his church hall is up for rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The convenience store on the corner of West Derby Road and Snaefell Avenue is instantly recognisable as a former bank. I don\u2019t know what bank it was, but you can still make out \u2019Tuebrook Branch\u2019 above the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found Brainerd Street. I\u2019ve got the nerd, but I\u2019m not sure about the brain!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perfect Food store – a bold claim to make for a shop that\u2019s not open 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe’s Dairy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the West Derby Road end of Marlborough Road I spotted an archway through to the rear of the property. I wondered what it could have been so I took a closer look. And there above the arch were the letters D A [light] R Y. After a bit of research I discovered this was the location of Joe\u2019s Dairy, owned by Joe Capstick. There were cows here right up to 1975. I\u2019ve included a photo of Joe in the yard with his son and a horse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
