It was another beautiful, clear, sunny morning as I finished the last of the roads off Mather Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collection of sandstone buildings at the end of Brockleband Lane where it meets Mather Avenue look somewhat out of place amongst the surrounding inter-war houses. The 1914 maps shows this to be Springwood Farm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The modern houses on Ramsey Close also seem out of place. I thought they had to have been built on a plot of land previously used for something else, and after checking on the 1970 map you can see this used to be allotment gardens. A row of three houses on Ramsey Road had to be demolished to make way for the access road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tower of All Souls Church is imposing on the skyline to the east. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I found an old fire hydrant marker with \u201cLCWW HYDRANT FT\u201d on it. That would have been Liverpool City Water Works. I don\u2019t know why the number of feet is missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holly Farm Road runs alongside the site for Liverpool South Parkway railway station. This is a new station that connects passengers to both the mainline from Lime Street out to Widnes, and the Merseyrail line from Liverpool Central. It replaced Garston Station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not surprisingly Holly Farm Road is named after the farm that used to stand at this location. When the farm was demolished it was replaced by a football stadium called Holly Park, home of South Liverpool FC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Found another pillar box with a Queen Victoria Royal royal cypher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I completed the last of the three roads in Liverpool called Long Lane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
