It was 16\u00baC when I started my run, and 23\u00baC when I finished it. I think I\u2019m going to have to put a bottle of water in the car!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After running all of the roads east off Lark Lane at the end of August last year I eventually got round to completing all the roads west off Lark Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I knew about the old police station but not the old fire station on Little Parkfield Road. I was also unaware of Parkfield Farm, founded in 1872 by farmer John Hogg. This was, until it closed, the oldest dairy in Liverpool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I took a photo of 17 Parkfield Road, the address where my Dad was born in 1939. I also took a photo of 6 Ullet Road which was the first address my Dad lived after he was born. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Florence Institute for Boys is situated on the corner of Mill Street and Wellington Road. It was built in 1889 by Sir Bernard Hall (merchant, Alderman and former Mayor of Liverpool) in memory of his daughter who died aged 22. The Florrie, as it\u2019s known locally, was Britain\u2019s first boys\u2019 youth club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Florrie closed in 1988 when funding dried up and the building fell into disrepair. The roof was destroyed in a major fire in 1999. Following pressure from the local community The Florence Institure Trust Ltd was formed in 2004, and charitable status followed. The Trust applied for Grade II listed status, and successfully secured a \u00a33.9m Heritage Lottery Fund grant to help regenerate the building. A further \u00a33.7m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and \u00a31.7m from the Northwest Regional Development Agency helped secure the work needed to restore the building. It was officially re-opened by The Prince of Wales in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Grade II listed High Park Street Reservoir (known locally as Toxteth Reservoir) was built in 1845 to provide clean water and was only decommissioned in 1997. It\u2019s now managed by a social enterprise called Dingle 2000 and is available to hire for events. You can see inside it here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
