I\u2019d only run here once before (back in December 2018) and had been planning to return for a while but each time other stuff got in the way (cancellations, etc).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I met up with Calum and Lynsey who were staying in Southport for the weekend, and Stuart Brandwood (fellow With Me Now listener). I was also able to say hi to Colin and Barbara Maddocks. Colin runs the most excellent Grateful Fred\u2019s Roots and Acoustic Nights at The Atkinson in Southport and is a talented musician in his own right. They are both regulars at Southport parkrun and I love seeing his weekly selfie with his posse!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s Easter Saturday so of course the Easter Bunny was there. In fact there were two, although one of them looked more like a rabbit than the other!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more rabbit-like rabbit (Michelle) gave the first timers\u2019 briefing and managed to do it without taking her rabbit head off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course is two and a half times round Hesketh Park. The first two laps take you round the twisty-turny path round the lake. I remember this frustrated me on my first visit because it was hard to overtake people. This time I wasn\u2019t overtaking anyone!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of interesting features in the park, including archways, statues, sculptures, and an observatory. And there\u2019s a nice cafe next to the children\u2019s play area where parkrunners can go for food, drink and parkfaff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next week is Philips Park for Jo\u2019s Cowell and our Regionnaire.
