parkrun #52 – Ormskirk parkrun
Time: 22:19
Tourism event #21 & NENDY
After knocking off Widnes on Christmas Day and St Helens on New Year’s Day Ormskirk had become my NENDY (Nearest Event Not Done Yet). It takes place in the grounds of Edge Hill University on the outskirts of Ormskirk, meeting outside the Armitage Sports Centre. Despite the sign for the car park saying it’s for permit holders only parkrunners are allowed to use it for free on Saturdays. There are toilets and shower facilities inside the sports centre and a cafe for afterwards.
The course takes you round the University’s sports ground, starting with a loop around the outside of the running track, up a slope then an anti-clockwise loop round the back of the all weather pitches followed by two large anti-clockwise loops round the rugby pitches before running back down the slope and round the outside of the running track to the finish.
The course was really well marshalled with handy distance markers along the way.
