Today I completed the Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon. This was my first ever (and only!) marathon and I managed to complete it in under 4 hours too! 🏃♂️💨
The weather on the day was mixed, with some rain, some sunshine, and a strong breeze. I wore my running vest over a t-shirt and ever time I thought I was going to get too hot I turned a corner and caught a cool breeze.
The wind on the final stretch along Otterspool Promenade to the finish by the Convention Centre wasn’t quite as strong as it was for the half marathon in March but it was still a challenge. The final three miles were a struggle for me but I was determined to keep running to get a sub-4 hour finishing time.
Thanks to everyone who supported me and cheered me along the route.
- Ste Reid
- Vicky Reid
- Kaya Herstad Carney
- Thom Morecroft
- Eamonn Brady
- Carl Southworth
- Stephen Boyd
- Matt Davies
- and anyone else I missed!
A huge, heartfelt thanks to my sister Katy and brother-in-law James who were there at the finish line to give me a big hug and take some photos. They were a sight for sore legs! They missed me at Penny Lane when the live tracker went screwy so jumped into the car to make a crazy dash to the Convention Centre to meet me at the end.
Final thanks to Richard who treatment me to a slap up meal and a pint afterwards. ☺️ I needed that. 😎👍
Day 146/365 running 5k-a-day in 2019 for @ARUKnews – Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon. I did it! My first ever marathon and sub 4 hours too!
