Notes

Today I ran 20 streets with the word ‘dale’ in them, all between Rose Lane and Queens Drive. For some reason Mapledale, Rosedale and Bleasdale have a strip of green land running between them half way down the roads.

For some reason there are lots of hairdressers and beauty salons on and near Rose Lane.

2A Rose Lane is a new build at the end of a short path. It looks like one of those swish places you’d see on Grand Designs.

There’s a sign for Harper’s Dairy at the start of Rose Brae. It was opened in the 1900s and closed in 2018.

There’s a new build sticking out on the corner of Rose Lane and Pitville Road.

Mossley Hill Station looks like it’s had a bit of refurbishment since I was last down this way. It’s even got an Amazon Locker. The Sports Direct gym has been through so many incarnations with different companies I’ve lost count.

On Glenmore Avenue one of the old houses had been knocked down and replaced by… er… a box. I’m sure it’ll look better when it’s finished.

On the corner of North Mossley Hill Road and Rose Lane there’s an odd looking house backing right onto the pavement. On closer inspection it turns out it’s the lodge house for the main, larger house along the driveway.

Drewell Road and Lyndhurst Road are unadopted. This means they’re not looked after by the council, and don’t get a proper road surface. I think tarmac would spoil the look of them anyway.

I stopped for a photo at St Anthony of Padua Primary School. My two nephews used to go here. The school backs onto the church on Queens Drive.

All of the Virgin Media vans are named after film or TV stars. I saw Vanny Dyer.

The 24th Picton Scout Group have their Scout Hut on Goresdale Road.

Gordon Place is like stepping back in time. All it needs is cobbles to complete the picture.

Between Millersdale Road and Dovedale Road there’s a private field. I have no idea who owns it. There’s a tennis club (Palmerston Lawn Tennis Club) behind the houses on Elm Hall Drive.

I took a photo of an interesting tree. Can you tell what it is?
