#everysinglestreet [10/07/21] Speke: Part 4 – the last of the roads off Central Avenue

Today was my first time back on the Speke estate since April. This time I was able to finish the last of the roads off Central Avenue, meaning everything east of Western Avenue is now done.

Stapleton Park was originally the site of Speke Secondary Modern School for Boys, eventually replaced by Parklands School on a different site. The park is now open grassland, with part of the far side fenced off for tree planting (like in The Mystery).

Either St Christopher’s RC Church don’t own a mower, or they’re deliberately going for the ‘wild grassland’ look.

There’s a new housing development off Central Avenue on the site where Speke Secondary Modern School for Girls was originally situated. When the school was knocked down it was left as a piece of grassland before the new housing came along. These new roads were on OpenStreetMap but without names, so I added them.

This development has added a row of new houses in the gap between No 42 Central Avenue and No 44. This has led to the new houses being number from 42A thought to 42K. The opposite has occurred on Linner Road where a section of houses was demolished and replaced by fewer houses, meaning No 93 (new house) is followed by No103 (original house).

I hadn’t noticed before, but the end terrace houses on Damwood Road are built at an angle.

PurpleBricks house signs are proudly supporting Team GB at the upcoming Olympics.

Great North Run

I’m running the Great North Run for the first time on Sunday 12th September, raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My mum has Alzheimers so this charity is close to my heart. If you can spare a couple of quid to help me reach my target I would be extremely grateful.
