#everysinglestreet [02/05/21] The last of the roads in Gillmoss

This morning I finished the last of the Gillmoss estate. On Trispen Road there’s a small square covered in grass and trees looking so beautiful in the sunlight.

The parish church of St Paul the Apostle is so ugly. I don’t know what it looks like inside but it can’t be any less appealing than the outside.

I had to cross over the East Lancs Road to run down the length of Portal Way, so it was a good excuse to revisit Croxteth Community Garden where, according to the sign by the gate, the crop of the week is pumpkin! (I’m guessing it’s an old sign).

At the East Lancs Road end of Portal Way there’s a retail shopping park with a Smyths toy store, a Food Warehouse by Iceland, and a Home Bargains.  Continuing down Portal Way to the roundabout at the end you pass Home Bargains HQ and Burtons Biscuit Co.

Back in Gillmoss and I can confirm that at least one section of Parkview Road has a view of the park. The road curves round the eastern edge of the estate, and through the fence you can see out across fields of crops.

I’m guessing groups of young people hang out at the end of Wicket Close where the wall is covered in chalk graffiti and there are discarded gas cartridges.

I run with a paper map printed out from the CityStrides website. I mark the route as I go along to help decrease the possibility of missing a road, and to help me plan which way to run to minimise having to run down the same stretch of road more than once.

Great North Run

I’m running the Great North Run for the first time on Sunday 12th September, raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My mum has Alzheimers so this charity is close to my heart. If you can spare a couple of quid to help me reach my target I would be extremely grateful.
