#everysinglestreet [12/05/21] The last of Netherley and the roads off Naylorsfield Drive

This morning’s run was split into two. The first was the remaining roads in Netherley off Wood Lane, and the second was the remaining roads off Naylorsfield Drive. Both of these areas had been left after I ran out of time on previous morning runs.

Run #1 – The estate at the far end of Netherley is encircled by Winster Drive and Wood Lane. There are only ten roads, with the majority of housing built away from the roads either along footpaths or facing green spaces. (You can see all the squares of grass from the satellite image.) This means you can’t park outside your house. It also means there is a large network of footpaths, alleyways and passageways with ‘road’ names but without the road.

There’s a stream along the south edge of the estate that flows into Netherley Brook, which itself becomes Ditton Brook before making its way into the River Mersey in Widnes. There’s a bridge that takes you over the stream, out of Liverpool, and onto fields and scrubland, with a number of paths to choose from. If I hadn’t been on a street-hunting mission I would have explored further.

Run #2 – I’d previously done a morning run all the way round Naylorsfield Drive, but ran out of time to do the roads in the middle. So I rectified that today. There was nothing much worth noting other than the variety of birds I saw, no doubt due to the proximity to trees and fields.

Great North Run

I’m running the Great North Run for the first time on Sunday 12th September, raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My mum has Alzheimers so this charity is close to my heart. If you can spare a couple of quid to help me reach my target I would be extremely grateful.
