My first midweek, early morning run for three weeks took me to Dovecot where I completed the last of the roads off Finch Lane. Once again I overestimated how much I’d be able to get done in the time available. What looked like 5 or 6 km on the map turned out to be 9 km which is more than enough for a run before work.
On my run on 14th May 2021 (the last of the roads off Princess Drive) I took a photo of the lovely green space between Murcote Road and Ackers Hall Avenue. Two and a half months later and the green spaces at the top and bottom have been sold to a housing association to build new homes. They’ve left a section of park in the middle where the five-a-side pitch and children’s play areas are. We need more houses building, and I guess this is progress of sorts. It’s just a shame it’s not on a brownfield site instead.
There’s a school called Blueberry Park with a headteacher called Mrs Honey. It’s like something from a children’s story book!
I’ve said before that trunk roads aren’t included on CityStrides. That means they don’t show as completed roads even when I’ve finished running them. However, there’s a branch of East Prescot Road that runs alongside the main road. This was the original road before the new, straight road was built. It’s on the system as a residential street which is why I’m being told I’ve completed the road even though I haven’t.

I’m running the Great North Run for the first time on Sunday 12th September, raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My mum has Alzheimers so this charity is close to my heart. If you can spare a couple of quid to help me reach my target I would be extremely grateful.
