- parkrun #129 – Fleetwood Promenade
- Different event #73
- Time: 28:30
Jo was at the cottage this weekend. She invited me to drive up on Saturday morning and run Barrow parkrun with her but I thought it was just a little too far given that I was planning on driving to Preston in the evening for a gig.
So instead I went to Fleetwood Promenade. This is one that I knew Jo had already done but I hadn’t. It also gave me a chance to visit my aunt Carolle on the way home!
Fleetwood is an out and back along (yes, you guessed it!) the Promenade. (I’m not sure why Fleetwood use ‘Promenade’ in their name but Morecambe use ‘Prom’.) It starts at the Marine Hall and heads south west for 2.5 km, passing the boating lake and golf course. The wind was really quite strong and we were running into it on the way out. But it was nice to have it behind us as we ran back.
Many thanks to the volunteers who braved the wind this morning. Thankfully it wasn’t too cold, and the rain kept away, but I can imagine it’s pretty tough standing out as a marshal, timekeeper or barcode scanner in winter conditions.
